Hilmar Middle School has a variety of clubs and after school programs available throughout the year. Some programs and clubs are offer year-round, others are available per sign up at a specific time of the year.
Brain Teasers ClubWhen: Afterschool from 3:05pm- 4:00pm Where: Library What: Students build problem-solving, spatial visualizaton, and critical-thinking skills as they play with various puzzles. Brainteasers encourage students to exercise logic in new ways and builds confidence to take on more difficult challenges |
Pokemon ClubWhen: Afterschool from 3:05pm to 4:00pm Where: Room C2 What: Pokemon fun! |
History/DC ClubWhen: Once a week during lunch (8th grade only) Where: Room A6 What: Mandatory meetings for all students that are sign up to attend the Washington D.C. Trip; Goes over all information that is need to know for the trip. |
Yearbook Photography ClubWhen: Lunch or afterschool from 3:05 to 4:00pm on specific days Where: Room A1/A4 What: Students are actively involved in capturing HMS student life, sports and events and then creating and developing our yearbook pages. Club sign ups occur at the beginning of the year- morning announcements will notify students when to sign up and apply. |
ASSETS ProgramWhen: Afterschool program- All school year long Where: HMS Cafeteria What: Assets is a fun, safe place for students to go after school. We offer homework assistance every day. We also have academic support and enrichment activities that we do, like Monthly Thematic Units, Service Learning Projects, Health & Wellness, Recreational Sports & Activities, Visual & Performing Arts & Cultural Awareness. We meet every day right after school until 6:00pm. Students can pick up an application from the office during the day or Steven Egli in the cafeteria after school. |
TutoringWhen: Every Tuesday and Thursday after school Where: HMS Library What: Tutoring is for all students who want that extra help with any class assignments or homework. College AVID tutors are in the library every Tuesday and Thursday after school for 1 hour. No need to sign up, just stop by the library on these days to receive one-on-one help with a tutor. |
HMS Sports
Hilmar Middle School offers a variety of sports for students to sign up, try out, and play in a team.
All students are required to:
- Complete a sports physical
- maintain a C average grades
- No F's in Mid or End of Trimester grades
Sports:
- Soccer (7th and 8th grade coed teams)
- Girls Volleyball (open to 7th and 8th grade girls)
- Boys Volleyball (open to 7th and 8th grade boys)
- Track and FIeld (open to all grade levels)
- Girls Basketball (open to 7th and 8th grade girls)
- Boys Basketball (open to 7th and 8th grade boys)
- Wrestling (open to all grade levels)
- Softball (open to 7th and 8th grade girls)
